The name Negroamaro derives from the black color of this dark red grape, even if it is also used to produce ros\u00e9 wines. In addition to the varietal 100% Negroamaro, it is often found in blends and is the basis of the famous Pugliese wine Salice Salentino.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0<b>Negroamaro<\/b>\u00a0variety\u00a0has the <strong>following features<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Leaves<\/b>: big-sized, pentagonal, three-lobe or five-lobe shaped<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Cluster<\/b>: medium-sized, truncated cone-shaped, short and compact, rarely one-winged<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Grape<\/b>: medium or big-sized, obovoid \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Skin<\/b>: with a plenty of bloom, thick and compact, black-violet-coloured<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Production features<\/b>: the Negroamaro variety gives a copious and constant production. It is best grown on clay and calcareous loams, but it is also able to adapt to other types of soil, as well as to hot and dry climates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Cultivation and farming<\/b>: the Negroamaro variety is mainly grown as sapling-based and under awnings, with long or short pruning<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Wine features<\/b>: the Negroamaro variety produces a crimson pomegranate-red-coloured wine. Its smell is winy and fruity, with a touch of small black-berry-based fruits and scents of tobacco.
