And the Cosimo Varvaglione Private Collection Primitivo di Manduria DOP garnered the coveted 5 Grappoli from Bibenda. Instead it was the Cosimo Varvaglione Private Collection Negroamaro that earned the Gold Medal from the Wine Hunter.<\/p>\n Two different interpretations of that prince of Puglia native grape varieties \u2013 Primitivo \u2013 two ways of making wine, two projects linked by a sustainable approach that respects nature. And two prizes that reward that approach. On October 27 there will be the official presentation of the Gambero Rosso in Rome, where Idea will be front and center. On November 30, in the elegant halls of Rome\u2019s Cavalieri Hilton, Franco Maria Ricci will award the Cosimo Varvaglione Private Collection Primitivo di Manduria.<\/p>\n At the Merano Wine Festival, November 8 \u2013 11, the Cosimo Varvaglione Private Collection Negroamaro, awarded the Gold Medal by the Wine Hunter. It will also be presented among the 100 Best Wines at that event. This special recognition is decided by a good eight commissions including sommeliers and journalists as well as experts from the field.<\/p>\n The Cosimo Varvaglione Private Collection that bears the signature of the winery\u2019s owner is the fruit of a careful selection of grapes from old vines, with an average age of 70 years old. For these wines, the grapes are picked by hand during the night, and undergo a meticulous selection process. The entire enterprise is followed personally by Cosimo from the vineyard to the cellar, an exercise of love that he decided to dedicate to this particular area of land where his family started making wine at the beginning of the 1900s.
